SFMO began as
San Francisco First Church of God, birthed in 1906 when missionaries from the Church of God training house in Oakland came across the bay to help the people living in Golden Gate Park who had been displaced by the earthquake.
Pastor Mike and Ann Moberg came to serve the SF First Church of God in 1994 and began SFMO by hosting groups of short-term missionaries in their home and at the church. Outgrowing that location the ministry and the church moved to its present location at 160 Sixth Street in the heart of the city. This facility now houses the Outpost Church of God congregation, the San Francisco Mission Outpost (providing short-term inner-city missions opportunities) and City Crossroads Ministries (celebrating and inspiring the children of our community) under one roof.
These three ministries are affiliated with the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, an evangelical Christian church with roots in Wesleyan Methodism. To learn more about the Church of God visit their website (JesusIsTheSubject.org) or our region — the Church of God Association of Northern California (chogncal.org).
During your stay at SFMO your group will have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus at inner-city ministry sites like City Crossroads, the Soup Kitchen, the Food Bank, Clothing Give-away and other Outreach on the Street.
